What will I learn in the Reflexology Certification Program?
The Foot Whisperer Reflexology Institute's Reflexology Certification Program teaches foot, hand, face, and ear Reflexology paired with in depth anatomy and physiology. Your journey with this program will prepare you to speak intelligently about the human body and about Reflexology while giving you the tools to bring balance through touch.
How long will the program take?
This training offers you 200 hours of in class training and 100 hours of home study and documented session experience, totaling to create a 300 hour program held to national RAA (Reflexology Association of America) standards.
The structure of the program is set up for you to take twelve 16-hour weekend workshops and complete an additional 9 hours of home study per month. We have a rolling enrollment process allowing you to sign up at any time, so contact us below to register.
Weekend trainings are the 3rd Saturday and Sunday of the month (training weekends are re-scheduled when falling on holiday weekends).
What is the structure of each weekend like?
A normal weekend consists of an introduction to the weekend’s body system, each weekend we cover one of the 12 body systems and revolve our techniques, pathology, and Reflexology theory around that system.
You will be asked to read ahead prior to each weekend so active discussions can take place during the training. Content is focused on relevant National Certification standards only, meaningless information retention is not a part of this program.
What are the hours?
We meet the 3rd weekend of every month. Weekend workshops are held at The Foot Whisperer Reflexology Institute: 4810 W. Gandy Blvd., Tampa, FL 33611.
Saturday & Sunday 9:00am - 5:00pm with an hour for lunch from 12pm to 1pm both days.
How much does the program cost?
The total cost of the program is $2100. We ask for a deposit of $350 (first and last training weekend) to reserve your spot which is then deducted from your total cost. After your first weekend you will pay $175 per weekend.
Your tuition is all inclusive and includes your text book, binder, charts, and additional content material supplied via email per-weekend.
Do I need to be licensed to take this program?
You do not need to be a licensed professional to take this program, however to practice Reflexology professionally you will need the appropriate Massage Therapy licensure as stated by Florida law. We encourage non-licensed students who are interested in learning Reflexology to take the program, or any of the singular weekends, with the intention to only practice on friends and family without charge. We also discourage the un-licensed practice of Reflexology professionally.
The Florida Board of Cosmetology has confirmed that Nail Technicians and licensed Cosmetologists are unable to provide Reflexology under their licensure. Nursing licensure does cover Reflexology in a hospital setting under the direct supervision of a doctor's care, however a nursing license does not allow you to provide Reflexology in a solo-practice setting. Students currently enrolled in a Massage Therapy program can join the Reflexology Certification Program at any time, however we will not accept un-licensed students that intend to practice Reflexology without the intention of acquiring the proper licensure.
What if I need to miss a weekend?
The Reflexology Certification Program is run year-round at the institute and you will have 15 months to complete the 12 month program. However if multiple weekends are missed make up hours with program director Sam Belyea are required. These hours also allow for special situations and one-on-one training opportunities based on the student's circumstances. We are an hours-based program, so any time that is missed will need to be made up through live instruction.
What will I leave the program with?
Upon graduation, appropriately licensed students will be able to claim the title of Certified Reflexologist, with a tremendous amount of hands-on technique experience. You will be fully trained in Foot Reflexology, Hand Reflexology, Face Reflexology, and Ear Reflexology upon graduation as well.
As a graduate of The Foot Whisperer Reflexology Institute's Reflexology Certification Program you will have the credentials to persue National Certification through the American Reflexology Certification Board (ARCB). The faculty of this program are uniquely qualified to assist with your post-program Reflexology goals, whichever path you choose to take we will be there to support you.
How can I get more information?
Feel free to contact the director Sam Belyea at email@example.com or call 813-831-9420
***Note: To preserve the integrity of the program, not all students will be accepted into the full Certification Program. An interview will take place before you are invited to register to make sure you are a good fit. However, the individual weekends are open to the public.
